UP Mindanao hauls 29 golds, 10 silvers

THE University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao collected a total of 29 gold medals, 10 silvers and one bronze in the recently-concluded State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (Scuaa) Region 11 meet held October 26 to 29 in Tagum City.

UP Mindanao fielded a delegation of 65 athletes who competed in eight events.

The swimming team won 28 golds, eight silvers and one bronze.

The women's futsall team, meanwhile, was unbeaten in four matches to clinch the gold and a champion's trophy carved by inmates of the Davao Penal Colony.

The women's chess and women's badminton teams salvaged silvers.

The women's volleyabll team, men's chess team, men's table tennis team, men's chess team, men's table tennis team and the men's basketball team.

The Scuaa Region 11 Meet was also participated in by Compostela Valley State College, Davao del Norte State College, Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology, Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (Spamast), University of Southeastern Philippines North and South Teams.

Winners will advance to the National Scuaa National Meet slated in February 2018. (PR)
