FORMER Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras player Mark Panerio splashed in 30 points and the defending champion Panthers defeated last year’s runner-up Sharks in overtime, 81-78, in Week 3 of the Elite Basketball Club- Cebu Season 10 at the Visayas Glass Gym.

Rory Paspie added 19, Neil Buot handed 12, and Prince Panes contributed 10 for the Panthers, who moved to the top of the standing with a 3-0 win-lose card.

Prince Malana finished with 26 points, Malvin Malicdem chipped in 13 points, and John Cabahug had 12 markers for Sharks, who absorbed its first loss in three games.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, joined Panthers as the only unbeaten teams after they thwarted the Cheetahs, 78-71.

Trystan Chu and Rob Abayon combined for 57 points for the Bulldogs. The Cheetahs were led by Paul Laguros and Adonis Gabumpa, who had 18 and 16 points, respectively.

In the other game, Tigers clawed Rams, 67-64, as Germaine Guarisma scored 21 points and Francis Ortega added 15 markers.

Sam Hermosa’s 34 points went for naught and the Rams dropped to a 2-1 slate.

Meanwhile, the Wolves beat the Stallions, 77-71, for their first win in the season, while the Turtles outlasted the Lions, 71-64. (RSC)
