Man protects wife, gets stabbed

A MAN was injured when he protected his wife from a tricycle driver who attempted to stab her on Wednesday, November 1, at Celine Homes Subdivision, Barangay Estefania in Bacolod City.

Wounded was Otche Macapas, 33, of the said village.

Investigation showed the victim was driving his Honda Civic vehicle on their way home when a tricycle driven by Eliberto Helle, 44, hit the car around 4:15 p.m.

When the couple disembarked to check the damage, Helle, who was reportedly drunk, confronted the victim’s wife and shouted at her.

“Inyo na ‘ya sala kay kamo nag saga-id sa akon (It’s your fault because you hit my vehicle),” Helle said.

Helle then took a knife from his bag to stab the woman, but her husband shielded her.

Macapas sustained a lone stab wound and scratches.

Helle escaped but his tricycle was found in front of a chapel in the village.
