Italian-Venezuelan photographer with solo, farewell photo exhibition

ITALIAN-VENEZUELAN photographer José Antonio Nigro returns to the local art scene with his seventh solo and farewell to Cebu exhibition. Showcasing different aspects of Cebu’s society from his point of view, he presents a series of low key lighting portraits which represent a visual essay of an intimate conversation between subject and photographer.

“Being a foreigner in a country, learning from the culture, religion, society and diversity are the most rewarding experiences a person can have in life.” “We Are Cebu” is José Antonio’s way to give back and express his gratitude to Cebu for being his home for over four years.

Cuerpo de Guardia at Fort San Pedro, as one of the artist’s favorite historical sites in the city, will be the perfect background to showcase his work linking history, heritage and culture to this very local theme.

The vernissage of “We Are Cebu” will be on Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and available for public viewing from Nov. 23 to 30. José Antonio has always been interested in documentary photography, striving to capture an image’s beauty and significance during a precise and unique moment in time.

Exploring the human figure, his work integrates simplicity, strength, and feelings with varying aspects of human life. (PR)
