GLOBAL Cebu FC scored two late goals to squeak past Stallion Laguna FC in the Philippines Football League (PFL) last Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.Center back Wesley Dos Santos scored the timely equalizer in the 89th minute, while star striker Rufo Sanchez hit the match-clinching goal in the third minute of added time for his hat-trick.
Global was down early with a 12th minute goal by Yannick Tuason. Sanchez equalized in the 30th minute and gave Global the 2-1 lead in the 48th minute.
Ko Kyungjoon scored the equalizer in the 60th minute and Tuason gave Stallion the lead eight minutes later.
It was Global’s second straight win after beating Ilocos United FC, 3-2, last Sunday with a winning goal by Dos Santos.
Global got the much-needed three points against its closest rival Stallion for the fourth spot.
Global is fourth with 43 points, just four points behind third place Kaya FC-Makati, which has 45 points. Ceres Negros FC moved up to second with 48 points after a 5-1 win over Davao Aguilas FC, while FC Meralco Manila is still the top team with 54 points.
Global’s next assignment is against Ilocos this Sunday at the Quirino Stadium and then they will have two crucial PFL matches against Ceres and Meralco on Nov. 19 and 28, and an RHB Singapore Cup finals match with Alibrex Niigata on Nov. 25. (EKA)
