THE Davao City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) have provided relief and financial assistance to the 112 displaced families of the fire incident in Purok Mahayag, Buhangin, Davao City.
Norman Baloro, head of the CSSDO Buhangin District, in an interview with SunStar Davao on Friday, November 3, said that when the fire incident broke out last Wednesday evening, their office provided food and non-food packs to the victims.
"We are providing cooked foods daily breakfast and dinner only. Also foods and non-foods like blanket, mat, plates, etc.," he said.
Based on the validated data, there are 76 house owners in which 74 houses were totally damaged and two are partially damaged.
There are also 23 renters, 13 sharers and 16 boarders for a total of 112 families and 16 individuals.
These individuals are currently seeking refuge at Buhangin Gym.
Meanwhile, he said that they will submit by next week the documents so that the financial aid will be turned over to the victims.
House owners whose houses were totally damaged will get P10,000 while P5,000 will be given to owners of partially damaged house.
The renters will receive P5,000 while sharers and boarders will have P2,000 financial assistance.
The fire started at around 5 p.m. and was controlled at 6:15 p.m. on November 1.
No casualties were recorded according to authorities.
The cost of damage of the fire was pegged at P1.5 million.
Based on the investigation conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection, fire investigator SFO2 Andrino Atillo revealed that the fire started at the house of a certain Rizalino Monleon. Allegedly, the cause of the fire is due to unattended lighted candle.
