A MEMBER of the Philippine Air Force was wounded after he accidentally shot himself inside their office at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City Friday afternoon.
Injured was Staff Sergeant John John Elbanbuena, 43, of Guimbal, Iloilo City.
He is assigned at the Tactical Operations Group Advance Command Post based in Bacolod City.
Inspector Charmae De Paz, public information officer of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said they heard a gunfire around 3 p.m.
Upon the arrival of policemen, they saw Elbanbuena lying on the ground with a lone gunshot wound in his chest.
De Paz said Elbanbuena was cleaning a .45 caliber colt when he accidentally pulled the trigger, based on the statement of his colleague.
He was rushed to a private hospital in the city.
Investigation is ongoing.
