Minglanilla village official nabbed for unlicensed firearms possession

A VILLAGE official was arrested for allegedly keeping unlicensed firearms in a raid by the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) operatives in Sitio Kuluhan, Barangay Tulay, Minglanilla, Cebu, around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, November 5.

Superintendent Joie Pacito Yape Jr., the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) chief, identifed the suspect as Barangay Tulay Councilor Melchor Secuya, the village's committee chairman on health.

The 53-year-old suspect yielded two .45 pistols loaded with bullets to the personnel of PIB, Provincial Public Safety Company, Provincial Special Weapons and Tactics, Minglanilla Police Station and Regional Maritime Unit 7.

A search warrant issued by Talisay City Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Jacinto Fajardo authorized the operation.

Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition complaint will be filed against the suspect. (KAL)
