Price hike on yellow, white corn grits in Davao Region

GENERALLY in Davao Region, yellow corn grits and white corn grits have increased by 4.49 percent and 15.34 percent per kilo, respectively, as of September compared to their prices during the same period last year.

According to the data by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), yellow corn grits in Davao del Norte slightly decreased by 0.69 percent to P24.21 per kilo as of September from P24.38 September of last year. Their white corn grits had, however, increased by 19.51 percent to P28.79 from P24.09 September of last year.

In Davao City, yellow corn grits increased by 5.37 percent to P25.51 per kilo September of this year from only P24.21 per kilo last year.

White corn grits in Davao City is now priced at P31.40 per kilo, almost a 12.95 percent increase from its P27.80 per kilo price last year.

In Davao del Sur, data available is only for the price of white corn grits. This has increased by 42.84 percent to P30.24 per kilo from only P21.17 per kilo September of last year. An increase of about 18.82 percent for the white corn grits in Davao Oriental was also noted, with prices pegged now at P28.72 per kilo from its P24.17 per kilo last year.

However, in Compostela Valley, price of white corn grits slightly decreased by 4.77 percent from P26.43 per kilo from September 2016 to P25.17 per kilo as of September this year.
