“Kamandag ng Droga”

CLARIFICATION. Movie scriptwriter and director Carlo J. Caparas has clarified that his latest film, “Kamandag ng Droga” (“The Venom of Drugs”), is not a propaganda flick in favor of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and his ongoing war against drugs. “It is actually a cry against drugs whose effect affects the family of those addicted to them, thus bringing a lot of damage to the entire community,” the noted filmmaker told me. He also stressed that his flick intends to remind the nation that drug use can only be stopped if everybody cooperates with the authorities and law enforcers. Caparas also emphasized that “Kamandag ng Droga” is based on true events.

ASSISTANT. I was also able to talk to Isabelle Peach, his daughter, and Jing, one of her close friends who also appear in this movie. Peach assisted her dad in shooting some scenes of “Kamandag ng Droga” and even enhanced several speaking lines of the stars. She shows a lot of promise and potential as a movie scriptwriter and director just like her dad.

SCREENING. On Nov. 25, this flick will have its premier screening at SM City Cebu (Mabolo) cinema 8. It will be shown twice: 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Caparas is asking the public to see his latest offering.

INDUCTION. Tonight, the Sugboanong Musikero Inc. will hold its 1st induction program. A Holy Mass will precede the ceremony. Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella and Councilor Joel Garganera will be the special guests. (For comments, text 0932-277-8771).
