3 dead, 1 injured in separate road accidents

THREE persons died while another was injured in separate road accidents in Negros Occidental on Saturday, November 4.

In Bacolod City, two motorcycle riders were killed while their driver was wounded after their vehicle hit a truck at Abada-Escay Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre at 7:30 p.m.

Killed was Joebert Ortiz, 32, of the said village and Bernie Gerasnea, 41, of Barangay Granada.

Injured was driver Fortunato Sayson, 40, of Barangay Granada, who does not have a driver’s license.

Investigation showed the victims were traveling north and tailing a wing van truck driven by Benjie Santoceldez which their motorcycle attempted to overtake.

They fell, and were hit by the rear of a tricycle driven by Silverio Billones traveling from the opposite direction.

All three victims were rushed to a hospital, where Ortiz and Gerasnea were pronounced dead.

Santoceldez voluntarily surrendered to Police Station 7.

In Cadiz City, Woody Desuyo, 40, of Hacienda San Jose, Barangay Mabini died after he figured in an accident on Villena Street in Barangay Zone 2 just before 8:30 p.m.

Police records showed that Desuyo was driving with passenger Timogin Gabriel on their way to a bus terminal. The vehicle fell on its side and they were thrown from their seats.

Desuyo succumbed to severe head injuries when he was hit by the vehicle. His passenger was unharmed.
