THE man who shot Grab driver Gerardo Maquidato Jr. has a standing warrant of arrest for murder, police said Monday.
Pasay City Police Office deputy chief for operations Superintendent Gene Licud identified the suspect as Narc Tulod Delemios, 25, a resident of Barangay 148, Pasay City.
He said Delemios' live-in partner, Giselle, tagged him as the person who used her account to book a Grab ride on October 26 around 7:15 p.m. along F.B Harrison going to a mall in Taguig City.
Licud said Giselle was among the persons of interests in the crime based on the Maquidato's record of passengers, which was submitted to them by Grab.
"We identified her (Giselle) as the last na nag-book ng ride sa ating victim but it was cancelled. Cancelled pero lumalabas na sumakay pa din 'yung nagbook na ayon nga kay Giselle ay 'yun ngang kanyang live-in partner," he said.
[We identified her as the last person who booked the victim for a ride but it was canceled. However, it appears that the suppose passenger who was identified by Giselle as her live-in partner boarded the vehicle.]
"As of now we are looking at him as the sole suspect in the robbery as the motive of the killing and our tracking team are still outside within and outside the Metro Manila for his arrest," Licud added.
Licud said an initial investigation showed that Delemios has a standing arrest warrant along with a certain Jeric Lim for murder. Delemios was also involved in the killing of a person during a basketball game, he added.
Maquidato was shot in the head and was dumped off in Bonanza Street in Barangay 189 in Pasay City by a suspect who posed as a passenger.
The suspect took the vehicle and the victim's personal belongings.
Maquidato was awarded by Grab as one of the "best drivers" after he gave a courtesy ride to a sick passenger even without being asked about it. (SunStar Philippines)
