Drug peddler nabbed in Pampanga drug bust

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- A drug peddler who attempted to evade arrest fell in the hands of agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Luzon in a drug sting along MacArthur Highway, Barangay Dolores City of San Fernando, Pampanga, on Sunday, November 5.

In a report submitted to PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino, PDEA-Central Luzon Director Joseph CLadip identified the suspect as William Gonzales, 36, male, and a resident of Barangay San Antonio, Mexico, Pampanga.

The PDEA Pampanga provincial officer who refused to be identified disclosed that the arrest of Gonzales was the fruit of week-long surveillance following a tip from a confidential informant.

“Gonzales negotiated for the sale of three grams of shabu for P18,000 to a PDEA agent who acted as poseur buyer but upon sensing that it was an entrapment operation, evaded arrest using his getaway car. Luckily he was cornered by our operatives at the stop light along St. Jude-Lazatin Boulevard”, Ladip said.

The sting yielded one medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu and one small heat-sealed transparent containing shabu with combined estimated weight of more or less four grams and with an estimated street value of P24,000, one unit of Honda Civic and the drug bust money.

The suspect is now detained at the PDEA-Central Luzon Jail Facility in Diosdado Macapagal Government Center, Barangay Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 are being readied for filing in court. (PR)
