Mansilingan fire victims to get housing assistance

FAMILIES affected by the fire in Purok Kahirup B, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City Saturday, November 4, will receive financial assistance from the City Government.

Pacita Tero, head of Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), said yesterday those whose houses were destroyed will receive P10,000 each while those with damaged houses will receive P5,000.

The fire destroyed 13 houses and damaged two others.

A total of 23 families were affected and most of them were temporarily sheltered at the village’s gymnasium.

Tero said they are preparing the documents to release the financial assistance for the affected families so they can rebuild their houses.

She said there was no identified evacuation area because most of the affected families preferred to stay with their relatives in the nearby villages.

The City Government provided food assistance, but Tero said they still need more like clothes, foods, kitchen utensils, and personal care items.

For those who are willing to help, the social workers are accepting donations at DSSD office at the Bacolod Government Center or at the Barangay Mansilingan Hall.
