Living her dream

“WHAT do you want to be when you grow up?”

This is a frequent question for every child. Every kid has a dream. There are some who want to be in the medical field, engineering field, political side, while the others want to be a teacher, a pilot, a journalist, a writer; and the list goes on.

Everyone may have different dreams but everybody has the same goal—to achieve them and be happy.

As for Dannah Mae Bordalba, a 28-year-old mother to an eight-year-old girl, living in a fairyland where everything is magical and perfect, is the childhood dream she wants to fulfill. Knowing that this dream of hers is impossible to achieve, she then started bringing her imagination to life by living and traveling with her 150 dolls and counting, together with her daughter, Shauncey Nichole.

“I think everyone has that feeling to live in a fantasy world. And in my case, I didn’t outgrow that kind of feeling. Aside from the fact that these dolls make me feel I’m living in a fantasy world with them, it also brings out the artistic side in me,” she shared.

Her Instagram page @danzybananzee is proof of how Dannah unleashes her imagination as she gives life to her dolls by bringing one or more of them everywhere she goes—from malls and coffee shops to beaches and mountain sides. She takes pictures of them, like human beings enjoying life to the fullest.

She always makes sure that the dolls she brings would fit the place she would go to. For instance, when she goes to the beach, she brings with her Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” or Cleo de Nile from “Monster High.”

When she goes to the mall, she brings her Barbie dolls instead. Not only do these dolls fulfill her childhood dreams but they also satisfy her as a mother since her daughter loves the dolls as much as she does and they take care of them together.

Though some people find her weird because of this doll obsession, she believes that the child in her is grateful for granting her what she desired.

It is never too early or too late to achieve childhood dreams. Young or old, a dream is a dream one should reach as it is the most gratifying and rewarding feeling this world can offer.
