Farm owner unscathed in gun attack

A FARM owned was unscathed as he managed to dodge a bullet in a gun attack triggered by a land dispute in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported on Tuesday, November 7.

The police said the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m., Monday, November 6, at Purok 4 in the village of Buyogan, Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The police identified the would-be victim as Rodrigo Cabrera, 55, of Natan village, Siay.

The suspect was identified as Rodrigo Vargas, 39. He was arrested after the incident.

Investigation showed that Cabrera was at his rice field when Vargas arrived and shot him but missed.

The police said the victim was able to seek assistance from a neighbor, Antonio Amoro, 65, who witnessed the incident.

The police said the suspect was detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him. (SunStar Philippines)
