PRO 7 drops 13 policemen from rolls over alleged illegal drug use

THIRTEEN police officers under the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 were dismissed from service for illegal drug use in the past 10 months.

Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, the PRO 7 director, said the dismissal of the officers is part of the internal cleansing program initiated by Camp Crame.

Records of PRO 7 showed that 16 officers who used illegal drugs were charged before the Internal Affairs Service.

Six PRO 7 personnel were arrested for selling shabu, while two others (PO3 Irmon Tutor Butil and PO3 Ryan Martus Quiamco) were killed in drug busts.

He said 17 officers were identified as being involved in illegal activities.

Five of them are facing administrative cases, while another officer is facing a criminal complaint. (KAL)
