Capitol official faces sexual harassment complaint

CEBU Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said she summoned department head Baltazar Tribunalo and the woman who claimed to have been sexually harassed by him during a meeting yesterday morning.

She summoned Tribunalo and the woman after the latter filed a complaint against the official before the Provincial Women’s Commission (PWC).

The woman (name withheld) claimed that Tribunalo grabbed her buttocks during a meeting with some officials. Tribunalo heads the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Tribunalo, however, denied the woman’s claim, Magpale recalled.

Magpale said she has tasked the PWC to conduct background checks on Tribunalo and the complainant to determine who is telling the truth.

She assured that the PWC will give a fair decision on the issue.

SunStar Cebu tried to get Tribunalo’s side on the issue, but calls and text messages to his cellular phone remained unanswered. (JKV)
