San Fernando mayor reiterates importance of environmental protection

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Mayor Edwin Santiago has reiterated to Fernandinos the importance of protecting the environment amid the economic boom going on in the city.

During the recent “Talakayan sa Villa” at Villa Julita in Barangay Saguin here, Santiago said that initiatives towards the realization of a “New San Fernando” entails being smart, livable, green and sustainable.

“Environmental preservation and protection must go hand in hand with development. We cannot afford to sacrifice the environment in our quest for sustainability and being progressive,” he said.

Meanwhile, City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Engr. Anele David oriented the residents about the city’s programs in accordance with the solid waste management act and plastic-free ordinance.

To cap off the activity, Santiago together with David, turned over a tri-bike and a grass cutter to the residents who were represented by Barangay Captain Cristina Lagman and Villa Julita Homeowners Association Board of Director Engineer Efren Pacson.

Also present during the Talakayan sa Villa was acting Vice Mayor and Councilor BJ Lagman.
