THE Boljoon Municipal Government might have to conduct a forced evacuation in Sitios Camfranco and Sangi in Barangay Lower Becerril.
This was the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) after another landslide struck the barangay, nearly covering the newly constructed diversion road there.
With no letup in the rain since Monday, Baltazar Tribunalo, PDRRMO head, urged the town to monitor the situation and to close the road in the barangay at night.
Alice Canasa, weather bureau Pagasa weather specialist, said cloudy skies and scattered rain showers will be felt in the Visayas in the next few days after tropical depression Salome entered the country’s area of responsibility.
Marian Codilla, public information officer for the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) 7, confirmed that yesterday’s landslide damaged two houses.
She said that the ground will continue to move as long as it continues to be saturated.
Eutemio Ternate, Boljoon municipal disaster officer, told reporters that they won’t impose massive evacuation as long as there are no heavy rains despite being informed by PDRRMO of the situation.
