PRO-Western Visayas urges pastors to join anti-drug drive

CHIEF Superintendent Cesar Binag, director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas appealed to the members of the interfaith community to help the police in their campaign against illegal drugs.

Binag was in Bacolod City last Thursday for the relaunching of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Interfaith in Western Visayas held at Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) headquarters in Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. Thursday, November 9.

He urged the interfaith community to also guard their group and to hold activities that will keep their members away from illegal drugs.

“I do not want anyone from the interfaith community to be involved in such illegal activity,” Binag said.

The police director also encouraged them to report suspicious persons or activities to the authorities.

He told them to be vigilant especially on the issue of violent extremism as he does not want the siege in Marawi City to happen in the region.

Binag also spearheaded the meeting with the Bless Our Cops (BOC) Movement Inc. in the city Thursday.

He said that the BOC exists “to bless the police force, to provide them protection, spiritual, and moral needs in the performance of their assigned duties and responsibilities.”

Binag said that policemen also need counseling because of their stressful jobs.

Before the activity, Binag met with all police chiefs in the province and station commanders in Bacolod City.

Pastor Joel Degillo of BOC said a good relationship between the police and the interfaith community is very important because uniformed men need guidance and support.

Degillo believed that spiritual transformation is needed so that policemen can deliver and perform well in their duties.

He also said that they are willing to help the police in the anti-criminality campaign, particularly in the eradication of illegal drugs.
