Villar vows more infra projects for Oro, MisOr

DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar opened the Coastal Road to vehicular traffic on Friday, November 10, and more infrastructure projects for Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental are in the pipeline before President Rodrigo Duterte ends his term in 2022.

"Asahan nyo po na lahat ng projects ng DPWH ay tatapusin sa lalong madaling panahon at asahan no po na maghahanap pa kami ng maraming projects na makakatulong sa mga taga-Cagayan de Oro City at Misamis Oriental. Ito ay simula palang at marami pa kaming projects na makakatulong sa ating kababayan (Expect all the projects of DPWH will be finished as soon as possible and expect that we will find more projects that will help the people of Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental)," Villar said.

Villar acknowledged the efforts and cooperation of the local government units and local leaders saying the National Government allocated P400 million last year just to finish the 12.77-kilometer Coastal Road which was started in 1997.

The coastal road will serve as a bypass road starting from Barangay Gusa in the eastern side all the way to the western side in Barangay Igpit, Opol town in Misamis Oriental, thus connecting six barangays in the city and two barangays in Opol.

Aside from Villar, the inauguration of the coastal road was also attended by Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano, First District Reprsentative Rolando Uy, Second District Representative Maximo Rodriguez Jr., DPWH-Northern Mindanao Director Virgilio Eduarte and Chief of Construction Division and Project Engineer Virgie Nayve.
