CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- SM City San Fernando Dowtown formally kicked-off its celebration of the Yuletide season with the ceremonial lighting of its traditional Christmas centerpiece designed to delight mall-goers and excite children with the coming Christmas season.
The ceremonial lighting was led by SM Regional Operations Manager Engr. Junias Eusebio, Mall manager Lana Erroba, City Councilor Benedict Jasper Lagman, Board Member Rosve Henson and City of San Fernando Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan.
The event featured performances from the Angeles University Foundation Concert Chorus.
The ceremonial lighting was capped with song numbers from Disney as well as the presentation of iconic Disney Princesses.
The Christmas Centerpiece is in homage of the lovable Disney Princess characters like Belle, Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty featured in a Disney inspired Christmas centerpiece in dazzling white.
The centerpiece also featured Christmas themes of gifts and an area for selfies and group photos.
SM City San Fernando Downtown manager Lana Erroba said that the event aims to give mall-goers a different Christmas experience when visiting the mall, adding that SM aims to create a unique Christmas experience for young mall goers.
Erroba said the attraction brings about fond memories of Christmas and would surely delight both the children and the young at heart.
“The centerpiece invites people to go back to their childhood memories of Christmas and relive the magic of those experiences,” Erroba said.
Erroba added that a meet and greet with global Christmas icon Santa Claus is set on December 23 and 25.
“SM’s simple message is to let people know that SM is always a home to everyone, especially this holiday season which is very important to us Filipinos,” she noted.
Meanwhile, Erroba said that the centerpiece will be available for display until the first week of January together with other Christmas decorations around the mall.
The Christmas kick-off also featured gift distribution to 15 selected indigent kids from the city social welfare office.
Aside from the launching of the centerpiece, SM North Luzon 4 Assistant Vice-President Junias Eusebio also presented anew SM’s “Bears of Joy” where shoppers can purchase teddy bears for P200 to share and spread the Christmas cheers with a child in need.
“Here at SM, the season of giving and sharing is always brighter than ever. With the SM’s Bears of Joy project, we can make less fortunate happy and share the joy of Christmas,” he said. (With Princess Clea Arcellaz)
