Ex-Cebu traffic enforcer dies in hit-and-run

A FORMER traffic enforcer of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) was killed in a hit-and-run incident on Katipunan St., Cebu City on Saturday evening, Nov. 11.

The victim was identified as Emmanuel Gelig, 42, and was a head guard of a public highschool.

Police Officer 2 Paul Dennis Traya of the Traffic Police Group (TPG) said that the victim was driving his motorcycle when he was sideswiped by an alleged public utility jeepney (PUJ) at 8:27 p.m. last night.

Gelig fell off his motorcycle and was allegedly ran over by the back tires of the same jeepney.

The TPG is urging the driver of the jeepney to surrender to their office or else he will suffer heavier penalties aside from the reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and damage to properties.

Traya said that they are encouraging any possible witnesses to come to their office to report the crime. (JOB)
