Public warned 10 food, food supplements not registered with FDA

THE Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) warned the public against purchase and consumption of 10 food and food supplements as these did not go through the registration process of the agency.

FDA released an official statement warning the public against purchase and consumption of Lean N’ Green Capsule, Provita Probiotics with Vitamin B Complex, N Café Cocoa Malt 35g, The Original Colon Cleanse Bulk Forming Dietary Supplement, Gluta Lipo, Hot Beef Noodle, Ciaga Gluta Maxx, Mix Burn Slim, Best Nutrition Products L-Glutathione New Enhanced Formula with Rosehip, and Fit Solution Cell Mineral.

The statement said the agency’s post-marketing surveillance activities have verified that these products have not gone through the registration process of FDA and therefore had not been issued the proper authorization or the Certificate of Product Registration.

Purchase and consumption of the said products are noncompliance of RA 9711 or the “Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009” which prohibits the “manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without the proper authorization.”

FDA’s official statement further read that since these products have not gone through proper testing process, the agency cannot guarantee their quality or their effectiveness. As a result, consumption of these may result to health hazards.

Participation of the local government units, consumers, and other concerned sectors is thus encouraged to prevent these products from circulating the market.
