SM City Pampanga signals start of the holidays

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- SM City Pampanga, dubbed as the longest mall in the Philippines, welcomed the holiday season with a bang, as it unveiled its enchanting 25-foot tall Christmas centerpiece over the weekend.

The Disney-themed Christmas tree lighting ceremony was made extravagant by performances from the renowned Philippine Ballet Theatre and Filipino pop group 5th Gen, who entertained the kids and audiences with their heartwarming renditions of iconic Disney songs.

According to SM North Luzon IV Assistant Vice President Junias Eusebio, the event is one of the many ways to ring in the holiday season and keep the Christmas spirit alive at the province’s premier shopping and lifestyle destination.

“This our way of welcoming the most wonderful time of the year here at SM City Pampanga. Today, we follow other SM malls, as we formally launch our Disney-themed Christmas centerpiece. Ours, featuring the world’s most loved mouse---Mickey,” he said.

He added that through the years, SM continues to follow its tradition of filling the hearts of its valued shoppers with the season’s warmth, through various activities and programs for the whole family.

“Christmas is indeed our favorite season, and as you would all agree, no other country in the world does it grander and longer than the Philippines. In fact, as part of our SM Christmas tradition, our holiday preparations started way earlier with our annual ‘100 Magical Days Countdown to Christmas’, creating excitement and building anticipation for every kids and kids at heart who step into our malls,” he shared.

Aside from slated activities like Pyro Musical Show, Santa Meet and Greet, Christmas bazaars, and Lantern of Hope, Eusebio furthered that SM has also launched its “Bears of Joy” project which aims to give joy to less-fortunate children.

“This annual drive seeks to share the love and the joy of giving, and make more youngsters happy this Christmas. For only P200, you can have one bear to keep and the other will be donated to our chosen charity,” he noted.

For his part, Provincial Board Member Rosve Henson expressed gratitude to SM for its valuable contribution to the province and the City of San Fernando, touted as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines.

“In behalf of our provincial government, we would like to thank the SM management for their continuous effort to make Kapampangans happy, not only this Christmas season, but all year round, through their events and programs like this. In addition, we would also like to thank SM for giving quality consumer products and employment to the people of Pampanga,” he said. (With Princess Clea Arcellaz)
