5 loose firearms surrendered to police

THREE improvised and two unrenewed license firearms were surrendered to Police Stations 5 and 6 in Bacolod City through the implementation of Oplan Kontra Boga of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

On November 12, village watchmen Gelin Tanique and Romeo Pastrana voluntarily turned over to Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 5, two homemade firearms locally known as "sulpak," live ammunition of a shotgun, and a homemade .38 caliber revolver.

The following day, Chief Inspector Jovil Sedel, head of Police Station 6 received two unrenewed license firearms of a pump shotgun with four live rounds of 12-gauge shotgun, and .45 caliber pistol with three rounder magazines and 40 live rounds of ammunition from two persons.

The firearms and ammunition will be turned over to Firearms Explosives Security Agency and Guard Supervision Section in Bacolod City for safekeeping.

With the implementation of Oplan Kontra Boga, the BCPO encourages the people of Bacolod to turnover, or report gun owners who possess unlicensed firearms.

The BCPO’s initiative to heighten the campaign against loose firearms aims to make the city safe.
