SM CITY Bacolod officially welcomed the Christmas season as it lit up its giant Christmas tree – the tallest in Bacolod – at the north wing Saturday afternoon.
It is the tradition of SM malls to welcome the happiest season with the lighting up ceremony of a big centerpiece, accompanied by a grand program of dazzling performances centered on magical and majestic themes, all for the delight of its mallgoers.
This year, SM City Bacolod’s celebration featured a Disney-themed holiday, with the centerpiece surrounded by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse characters worthy of photo memories, and festive décor and photo installations that convey everyone’s love for the most magical world of Disney.
In a show hosted by Kurt Soberano, there were musical numbers of beloved Christmas songs, all rendered beautifully and powerfully by the University of St. La Salle Chorale. The singers were accompanied by elegant ballet performances by students of the Garcia Sanchez School of Dance.
The launch program was graced by city officials and their respective families, namely Bacolod councilors Cindy Tan-Rojas, Bart Orola, Elmer Sy, and Renecito Novero.
Another appearance at the grand launch was from one of the season’s icons, Santa Claus himself!
Santa, together with the city dads and mall officials led by assistant mall manager Julia Javellana, lit up the giant tree amidst the chorus of mall goers who shouted in unison for the countdown.
The main attraction, the Grand Christmas Tree, stands at 40 feet tall. Adorned with over 1000 festival balls, it shone all 50,000 of its LED lights for the first time this year and will continue to shine bright all throughout the season.
With Disney’s Mickey and Minnie popups surrounding the base,
Saturday’s spectators made the giant tree the hottest photo op area of the mall! Share photos and memories on social media using the hashtags #SMagicalChristmas #MerrySMChristmas2017 #WeLoveDisneyAtSM and #SMCityBacolod for a chance to have them featured by SM Supermalls!
Catch the centerpiece fever and delight in festive lights plus more Disney décor sightings around SM City Bacolod until the end of the year.
