P1.047B in pirated items seized in first 10 months

A TOTAL of P1.047 billion worth of pirated materials were confiscated by the Optical Media Board (OMB) since January to October this year.

This was the clarification made by OMB information officer II Khristine Isidoro in a letter to SunStar Bacolod on November 14, following the initial statement made by lawyer Anselmo Adriano, chairman of OMB, the seized pirated discs totaled to P1.47 billion as of October 2017.

Adriano made the statement when he was in Bacolod City last November 6 for an information campaign against piracy at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.

Last year, OMB has reached P1.49 billion worth of confiscated pirated materials, and the agency is positive that this year’s amount could still increase until the end of the year.

Adriano urged the public to help them in the reduction of the proliferation of pirated discs by reporting directly to them through their hotlines or via social media. (GYM)
