CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Rotary Club of San Fernando (Pampanga) on Wednesday marked its 68th Charter Anniversary with a night of fellowship and recognition for its active members who committed themselves to putting “service above self.”
With more than a hundred Rotarians and guests in attendance, the celebration was highlighted by the awarding of plaques of appreciation to past presidents who have devoted years of serving the community and leading the club and its members in promoting valuable projects and programs aligned with the rotary’s mission of creating lasting change.
Among the awardees were past president Emer Feliciano (10 years), Ceferino Pamintuan (15 years), Reynaldo Maun (20 years), Elenoy Bondoc (25 years), Conrado Pacla (28 years), Manuel Kehyeng (29 years), and Honorato Duya (51 years).
The event was also highlighted by the announcement that the club has surpassed their goal of raising $12,000 for the Rotary Foundation.
“For this year, we targeted to contribute at least $12,000 to our foundation, but as of tonight, we have already solicited a total of $15,000 and still counting,” Rotary Club of San Fernando President Fer Caylao said.
“We are very thankful to our generous members who have shared not only their time and effort, but also their resources to support our endeavors. We’d like to acknowledge our late fellow Eddie Chua for contributing over $9,000, as well as our brother Rudy Mallari for giving a total of $2,000,” he added.
Aside from Chua and Mallari who were presented the Major Donor Award, several members also contributed $500 each for the Rotary Foundation.
District Governor Benigno Valles told members to “continue doing good in the world, in happy fellowship with fellow Rotarians, as this is the only way to make a difference in the community”.
Rotarian Levy Laus, who lead the anniversary toast, shared that he looks forward to many rotary years with his brothers in service.
“We’d like to greet our club a happy 68th anniversary. Tonight, we celebrate not only having gone this far, but likewise the fact the we will last for many years to come
