SAN SIMON -- A former three-term councilor of this town was shot by still unidentified suspects in broad daylight Thursday, November 16, in Barangay Concepcion.
The victim identified as Emelito Yambao, 56, was allegedly shot in his residence by two gunmen riding a motorcycle around 9 a.m. in Sitio Duyong of the said village.
According to a relative of the victim, Bautista was about to leave his house when he saw the gunmen wearing bonnets approaching his direction.
When one suspect aimed at him, Bautista allegedly tried to duck and ran away but was still hit by bullets and sustained gunshots in different parts of his body, one on the left side of his chin, the relative said.
Bautista was rushed but did not reach the hospital alive. The suspects remain at large, said Police Officer 2 Jane Genobili of the San Simon police.
The relative said that Bautista is the third public servant that was shot in broad daylight by suspects riding in tandem in this town.
The victim’s family is now seeking the intervention of the local police and government, as well as possible witnesses for the immediate identification and arrest of the suspects.
