Adivay fair highlights agri-technology

THE annual Adivay fair this year highlights agricultural technology.

Provincial Agriculturist Lolita Bentres said they have invited partner agencies for farmers to go for organic, good agricultural practice, and the use of technology.

Booths from the 13 municipalities opened its doors to the public with a day to day agri-skills competition from cooking, eating, preparation of food and all agricultural products displayed at the Benguet Sports Ground, Wangal La Trinidad which will run until November 25.

Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARD) Doctor Melvin Carlos said science and technology is celebrated in the rich context seen in the cultural heritage of the province.

“Technology promotion is done through various modalities such as exhibits; techno forum for farmers, entrepreneurs, the youth and other client groups; techno-demo; farmer’s day, field tour, media conference and other array of ancillary activities,” said Carlos.

PCAARRD’s platform is anchored on the promotion of technologies and innovations for Farms and Industry Encounters through the Science and Technology Agenda (FIESTA) generated through the assistance of the Council and Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

PCAARD also highlights the possibilities for achieving abundance and prosperity in the agriculture industry through partnerships. It also seeks to provide various agri-based business opportunities to its wide array of clients through science and technology.

FIESTA is a venue to highlight the technologies and innovations as a result of the various Research and Development activities in the region. In the Cordilleras, focus commodities of FIESTA are potato, sweet potato, native pigs and other ornamentals and vegetables.
