Sungduan: Pagpapahayag

STUDENT and faculty researchers in the country and as far as Australia are set to converge in the Summer Capital for the National Communication Research Conference 2017 which will start on November 22.

The activity will begin with a three-day pre-conference workshops on research dissemination highlighted by an interactive lecture and “Pagpapahayag”, the pre-conference workshops on research reporting at the University of the Cordilleras, the partner of the University of the Philippines-Diliman Department of Communication Research for the said endeavor.

The workshop on research dissemination covers presenting and publishing papers in reputable academic outlets while the research presentation covers free workshop on effective oral presentation skills and the use of visual aids.

Another highlight of the conference is the lecture on the topic “Para ka namang others! A Brief primer on the ibangtao-hindi ibangtao relationship categories” with UP Diliman assistant Professor Jose Antonio Clemente; “Filipino Communicative Behavior” with Professor Jose Lacson, also from UP Diliman, “Spanning boundaries: Reflections of a Filipino-Australian communication academic” by Professor Marianne Sison of RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia; and “Tacit and Explicit Knowing and Filipino Kapwa Psychology: Cognitive Styles on their Relevance for the Psychology of Filipinos” by Dr. Katrin De Guia, the Author of Kapwa-The Self in the Other.

Also expected to happen in the event is the NCRC 2017 Paper Competition with representatives from UC, University of the Philippines Baguio, and University of Santo Tomas serving as jurors.

The last day of the event set on November 25 features “Paglilikha”, a post conference workshop on research design for undergraduate students in partnership with the Department of Communication of UP Baguio College of Arts and Communication and for graduate students and faculty members in partnership with the University of Baguio.

This research conference is very essential as it will help people understand the importance of research to the community and towards the betterment of life in general.

This undertaking will also inspire students to appreciate more about research by being involve in the activity especially in the paper presentations.
