Sri Lanka to join 2nd Asia UniGames

SRI Lanka will join the 2nd Asia-Pacific University Games in Dec. 6-11 in Cebu City, making it the fourth foreign nation to join the four-event competition hosted by Cebu for the second straight time.

Sri Lanka will join basketball powerhouse China, Japan and Malaysia in the event, but will only join the table tennis competition which was won by the University of Cebu in 2015.

Malaysia is also participating in table tennis as well as lawn tennis and badminton while China and Japan have yet to finalize their participation, other than the basketball tournament.

Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers, University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers are the participants for the basketball tournament.

UC, Cebu Institute of Technology-University are also participating in table tennis competition; UC and the University of San Carlos will be participating in badminton and Lawn Tennis; while the Webmasters will join badminton.

Local organizer Atty. Baldomero Estenzo is also expecting other Fessap member schools from Manila to compete in the tournament. (RCM)
