Pacoy Ortega waits for office oath

FRANCISCO Roberto Ortega VI is waiting for President Rodrigo Duterte to sign his assumption into office.

Pacoy, a 29-year-old criminology graduate has been chosen to continue the term of his father, the late Roberto, fondly called “Bungo.”

Ortega passed quietly in the afternoon of July 30, leaving behind a position in the City Council. He was 78.

Mayor Maurico Domogan said the go signal from the Office of the President is being awaited before the oath of office of the younger Ortega.

Domogan said they have also received an endorsement from former Vice - President Jejomar Binay, head of the United Nationalist Alliance, where Ortega is affiliated.

Pacoy has been chosen by the Ortega family as well as the party mates of the late councilor Domogan said the family’s preference will be respected in the anticipated decision and has affiliations to organizations close to his father advocacies.

The older Ortega comes from the illustrious clan known to hold public office in the North and was elected as councilor in 2013 where he held the committees on Human Rights, Social Justice, Public Protection and Safety and Peace and Order.

Ortega is survived by 18 children.
