TWO of Davao City's top shopping destinations, SM Lanang Premier and SM City Davao, have taken the celebration of Christmas a notch higher as they brought here magical attractions for their loyal customers to enjoy.
The Henry Sy-led mall in the northern part of the city transformed its Activity Center into a delightful wonderland with its 58-foot Grand Christmas Tree as the main attraction. The holiday decor, which was lighted up last November 8, is adorned with more than 2,000 iridescent white and red balls, while layered with hundreds of Christmas light sets.
To make the attraction even more magical and bring to life the winter-themed set, gigantic reindeer and various animals are placed around the holiday tree.
"Here at SM, the season of gifting and sharing is brighter than ever. Share in the fun as we fill our halls with joyful sounds from with our pop Christmas centerpieces, colorful parades and pyro musical shows in some malls," said Oliver John R. Tiu, Shopping Center Management Corporation's operations vice president for Mindanao during the lighting ceremony.
He also encouraged everyone to keep the spirit of giving alive this Yuletide season.
"And of course, share the love and the joy of giving with our SM Bears of Joy, our annual drive that seeks to make more children happy this Christmas. For only P200, you can have one bear to keep, while the other one will be given to our chosen charity," Tiu added.
Apart from this magical set inside the mall, the Tunnel of Lights at the Fountain Court, where mallgoers can find a long display of holiday lights forming a tunnel-like structure.
Meanwhile, SM City Davao has just made the winter Christmas dream of many come true with its Olaf's Frozen Adventure-themed showcase at the Annex Event Center.
Opened on November 10, the mall's centerpiece - a winter time with "Frozen" movie's lead characters at Arendelle Castle with a 15-foot Christmas tree - is made even more exciting with the region's first ice skating rink. This has given Dabawenyos the chance to try their ice skating skills while savoring the winter feels. The skating rink will be at The Annex until January 2018.
