CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Mayor Edwin Santiago was recognized as Philhealth Advocate by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation-Central Luzon during the Performance Recognition and Awards Night on November 17 at the Widus Hotel, Clark Freeport.
Philhealth-Central Luzon Vice President Walter Bacareza said the awarding seeks to recognize the local government units (LGUs) and stakeholders who support and implement Philhealth programs.
Bacareza furthered that Santiago deserves the said award because of his strong and unending support to the National Health Insurance programs to achieve a Universal Health Care.
Through his initiative, the City of San Fernando was also cited with the highest number of enrolled members in PhilHealth under the program of “Philhealth Para sa Masa.”
It really shows that Mayor EdSa wants to ensure the health of his constituents by providing them an equitable health care,” Bacareza added.
In his speech, Santiago expressed his gratitude to the PhilHealth Region III for recognizing his efforts in giving quality health service to Fernandinos. He said that every Fernandino, especially the poor, must have access to quality health care.
Meanwhile, the Birthing Station-3 in San Jose which is facilitated by Dr. Renely Tungol, was also recognized as Outstanding Rural Health Unit with the highest Maternal Care Package utilization not just in Central Luzon but also nationwide. (PR)
