Espedilla: Remedies for puffy eyes and dark circles (Part 3)

(Foreword: This is our continuation of our response to the letter of Nympha of Ma a regarding her desire for natural remedies for puffy eyes and dark circles.)

DEAR Nympha of Ma-a,

Let’s move on to the next level for more ways to get rid of those puffy eyes and dark circles.

4. Do some moves

Temporary eye puffiness around your eyes is often due to build-up of lymphatic fluid. Thus, you can encourage lymphatic drainage by doing some massage or some exercise. These ways can help more than cosmetic creams. So, if you have to choose between the two, choose the former than those expensive eye creams. Keep those movements going and going.

5. Change your lifestyle

I know you don’t want to hear this. But, I have to tell you this, no matter what. I may sound like your mom. But, you just don’t have to listen, you have to do this - hook, line, and sinker. Cut down those salty foods. Drink more and more water. Minimize alcohol. Of course, live clean. Don’t smoke, go for exercise and sleep well. Shoo those games away in your smart phone and those late movie nights.

6. Get those raw potatoes

Well, this raw potatoes thing had been here with us - for decades. I remember that our cook way back when I was still in high school showed me how she would use it over her eyes. This beauty regimen had been with us like those times we knew about those cucumber slices on top of the eyes of those glamorous women on the magazine cover. They may not be as glamorous or as pleasant as its cousin cucumber, but, those who had tried them can swear to their effectiveness in reducing puffiness and minimizing those dark circles around the eyes. Here’s what you can do.

Slide or grate some raw potatoes and place them in cold water and refrigerate them until chilled. You can also leave a potato in the refrigerator. You can then, recline your head and place the cold potato slices or those small shredded potatoes straight to your eyes and leave them for about fifteen to twenty minutes.

Oh, oh, I would have wanted to go for more ways to kill your problem, but, since we are running of space for now, so, let me then, continue this in my next issue. Until then again!
