Crusaders open bid in PCCL Minda Finals

THE Xavier University Senior Crusaders will try their luck in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) Mindanao Finals now underway in Davao City.

The Crusaders of coach Rocky Calingin represent Cagayan de Oro after ruling the city-wide eliminations of the CDOBF college men’s final on November 11.

Calingin’s wards will duel it out against the champions from General Santos City, Pagadian City, Zamboanga City and host Davao.

“It’s definitely a tough field. But like I said before, my boys have grown mature in the game and more determined than before,” said Calingin.

Calingin keeps on reminding his wards during practice to summon their championship form once again as they did in dethroning the Southern de Oro Philippines (SPC) Sharks via 106-100 win in the final.

The Crusaders barely made it to the top four after the elimination round.

Just enough to take the final seat in the semifinals where they prevailed against number one Liceo de Cagayan University.

Shooting guard Sean Tindoy, who finished 25 points in XU’s titular finish against SPC, will be Calingin’s main weapon as well as 6-foot4 center Janrey Manatad.

“If they will show that kind of attitude, I think we stand a good chance in the Mindanao finals,” Calingin said.
