Military on guard against foreign jihadists

THE military in the Visayas will help in monitoring any presence of foreign jihadists, who reportedly entered Mindanao after their Islamic State-supervised training in Indonesia.

“I hope the informant comes to us so we can verify if there’s any truth to this,” said Lt. Col. Medel Aguilar, Central Command spokesperson.

At least 100 foreign jihadists reportedly entered the country before the siege between government troops and Maute members in Marawi City ended last month.

Aguilar said they are still on high alert and urged the public to remain vigilant. (KAL)
