City allows use of Athletic Bowl for two big events

THE Baguio City Government has allowed the use of the Baguio Athletic Bowl for two big events late this month and early December.

The events are Saint Louis University’s Lantern Parade and medical mission and the Jehovah’s Witnesses annual gathering.

The green light to use the Athletic Bowl came after discussions with the different stakeholders including the event organizers and the City Engineering office (CEO), the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO), the Department of Public Works and Highways Baguio City Division Engineering Office (DPWH-BCDEO) and project contractor RU Aquino Construction.

Because the sports facility is still under renovation, only the bleachers and the center of the athletic field will be used for the events.

The installation of the oval’s synthetic track has been because of Typhoon Lando last month.

The contractor said “the cemented area where the rubber track will be installed should not be stepped upon and free of dirt and moisture.”

Any contamination of the cement will further delay the laying of the track. (Paul Rillorta)
