Cell site seen to improve Sagada connectivity

CONNECTIVITY issue may soon be solved in Sagada town.

Vice Mayor Benjamin Capuyan is hoping an ongoing negotiation with stakeholders and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples for the construction of a cell tower within the Saint Mary Church compound and hopes for positive results.

Capuyan said there are no opposition to the communications cellular site at the compound and is ready for the NCIP consultation next month which will be subject to a vote by stakeholders.

The official meanwhile said there are no concerns raised on the usual radiation issues and land problems in the town which makes him hopeful to have the smart tower up soon.

Meanwhile Jose Rosete of Smart Communications said they are looking forward for a positive outcome of their meeting with the NCIP.

“When the site is up and operating, there will be a significant increase in the availability, reliability and resiliency of our wireless services in Sagada," added Rosete.

Capuyan said connectivity has been a constant problem in the town with inadequate providers giving locals and visitors problems.

"We'd like to acknowledge the assistance given to us by the Sagada LGU. Supportive LGUs play an important role in helping improve telecommunications services in the country," Rosete said.
