CLARK FREEPORT -- Travellers from Central and Northern Luzon and even Metro Manila now have low-fare options to fly direct to Singapore with Jetstar Asia’s new services in Clark International Airport.
This after the carrier’s inaugural flight which was celebrated in a ceremony held at Park Inn by Radisson Clark on Tuesday, November 28.
Jetstar Asia’s Chief Executive Officer Bara Pasupathi said that the inaugural flight from Clark to Singapore, which is the first of the three return services a week, took off in Clark at 7:00 a.m., Tuesday.
Pasupathi said that Clark is the carrier’s second hub in the Philippines and third new destination for the Singapore-based low-cost airline this year.
“Following the successful inaugural launches of our new destinations in Hat Yai and Okinawa this month, we are most encouraged by the reception of our customers in Singapore and the Philippines, on our new services to Clark,” Pasupathi said.
Low-fare airlines like Jetstar have been operating in the Philippines for many years and transformed the way people travel, according to him.
“The accessibility accorded to travellers has also opened up new destinations that they may never have previously considered,” Pasupathi said.
He also disclosed that the airline will be adding more flights from December 21, 2017 to January 4, 2018 on top of its thrice a week regular services to accommodate Christmas travellers.
“Since we announced the news of our services to Clark, demand for our services has been positive and we are happy to announce that we will be adding three additional flights over the Christmas and New Year period in anticipation of the increased demand,” Pasupathi said.
Alexander Cauguiran, president and chief executive officer of Clark International Airport, welcomed Jetstar’s new flights in Clark.
According to him, the new route will attract passenger to use Clark airport, which has 12 carriers with 156 international flights and 124 domestic flights every week.
Clark airport is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2020. The airport will have a capacity of 8 million passengers per year.
