Early Christmas treat with singing priests

A “Rockin’ Around Christmas” concert for a cause was held last Sunday at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino featuring Fr. Jonas Mejares, Fr. Romeo “Dodong” Desuyo, Mustard Seed Band, ABBA choir, San Diego Company, Knapsack Dancers, Maka Girls, Kim Chiu and Yeng Constantino.

Proceeds of the event will go to the Shepherd’s Cebu Inc. to accomplish its mission to help people who are in need as well as its different apostolic works.

Fr. Mejares, dubbed the “singing Agustinian priest,” entertained the crowd as he beautifully sang love and rock songs together with Desuyo, of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. Both priests were gifted not just with great voices but they could also do stand-up comedy, throwing in some hugot lines and funny jokes in between performances.

The audience screamed out loud when Chiu and Constantino showed up on stage and serenaded the crowd.

The concert ended with all the performers singing Constantino’s song “May Tatalo Pa Ba sa Pasko ng Pinas.” (Liza Marie Caube, USJ-R Intern)
