‘Coachella’ at CIC, CCD presents ‘Fairy Tale Tutus’

CATCH the breezy and bohemian fever, as the Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC-Cebu) campus will adopt a music and art festival ambience, with the theme “Coming Home in Coachella.”

The alumnae homecoming will be on Sunday, Dec. 3, starting with registration at 1 p.m., followed by Holy Mass at 3 p.m. The traditional merienda of “churros y chocolate” will be served at 4 p.m., after which a colorful program starts.

Talents from the various alumnae classes will be showcased in song and dance. Dinner is next on the agenda with attractive raffle prizes awaiting alumnae and their guests. To cap the celebration, dancing follows.

The Cebu Centre for Dance (CCD) will premiere a two-act, original, recital piece, “Once Upon a Tutu” on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Onstage, Ayala Cinema One, in Ayala Center Cebu. Featured will be interpretations from seven fairy tales from master storytellers Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm, to name a few: “Hansel and Gretel,” “The Little Mermaid,” “The Snow Queen,” “The Emperor and the Nightingale,” “Thumbelina,” and more.

Featured are CCD’s very own senior faculty, Mary Poblete-Chan, Carmel Cabaero, Johanna Mangubat, joined by associate and guest faculty Monica Villarica, Megan Chan, Rufo Jeffrey Tapang and Marius Centino. Mark Anthony Grantos, guest artist and former company member of Ballet Philippines, will be performing alongside CCD’s dancers Sabrina Bogard, Monica Villarica, Giselle Abalos, Megan Chan, Nina Javelosa, Kaye Lani Deloria, Chloe Capatoy, Sofia Delavin and Jeff Tapang.

CCD students in classical ballet, contemporary and hip hop will also be featured.

Tickets are available at the Cebu Centre for Dance studio at Tango building, Redemptorist Plaza, Cebu City.
