Capitol willing to extend legal aid to victims of ‘laglag bala’

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said Wednesday the provincial government will give legal assistance to a Negrense who might be victimized by the “laglag bala” operation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Marañon condemned the extortion activity.

“Those behind such extortion activities should be penalized by dismissing them from service," he said.

The governor pointed out that those found with ammunition are just victims.

“What are they going to do with those bullets? They are overseas Filipino workers who venture abroad to earn for their family?” he added.

However, Marañon clarified that President Benigno Aquino III should not be blamed for such extortion activities are the airport.

In fact, the President has ordered for an investigation to pin down those responsible for such illegal act, he said.

The “laglag bala” extortion act has been condemned after the news has already reached the international community.
