Sagada readies for Yuletide crowd

THE tourist town of Sagada in Mountain Province is ready for the deluge of visitors expected to come during the Yuletide break.

Sagada tourism officer Robert Pangod said preparation is being done by establishment owners in the town for the December visitors.

Pangod said the recently concluded "Concert in the Clouds" proved the town can handle big crowds with close to 3,000 visitors in attendance.

With the continued influx of tourists, the Department of Tourism in the Cordillera region has recently accredited five lodging establishments in the town.

The handing of DOT accreditation papers was led by regional director Venus Tan with Sagada Mayor James Pooten and Vice - Mayor Benjamin Capuyan.

Among those accredited were Isabelos Inn and Cafe, Saint Joseph Rest House, Rusty Nail Inn, Sagada Homestay Inn and Misty Lodge.

DOT accredited establishments can enjoy benefits and incentives like advertising, endorsements, trainings and workshops.

Sagada has a 3,000 bed capacity with inns, homestay programs and lodging homes to accommodate visitors with only 15 DOT accredited establishments with two restaurants while other business establishments have yet to apply for accreditation.
