All set for Philippines Football League semis

IT'S all systems go for the staging of the two-legged semi-final matches in the 2017 Philippines Football League (PFL) with the first leg scheduled on December 2 and 3 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila and University of Makati football field.

Top seed FC Meralco Manila will host all the two legs against No. 4 Global Cebu FC as the Cebu City Sports Complex will not be available due to prior commitment. The second leg will be held on December 9.

No. 2 Ceres Negros FC will take on Kaya FC Makati on Sunday, 4 p.m., at the latter's turf while the second leg is on December 9, 7 p.m., at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.

The winners of these semi-finals will dispute the championship on December 16 while the losing teams will battle for third place in a venue still to be determined.

Philippine Football Federation (PFF) president Mariano Araneta Jr. congratulated the four clubs for qualifying to the PFL Finals Series.

"I would like to congratulate the four teams and at the same time wish them good luck," Araneta said.

"What started out as a collective dream then has become a reality. We are nearing the day when the first professional club of the Philippines Football League will be crowned champion," he added.

The PFL Regular Season started last May which saw the eight participating clubs playing a total of 112 matches - each club playing 14 home and 14 away matches. (HGD)
