Police hunts birthday shooting suspects

ILOILO City police are hunting down two suspected killers in a shooting incident at Barangay Tacas, Jaro district last Tuesday evening.

Cousins Rodney Jaculina and Eugenio Jaculina were tagged by the police as suspects for the death of Archie Deguma, 41, a former village chief.

The victim and the suspects were attending a birthday party at a barangay gym when Jaculina cousins started shooting Deguma.

The victim was able to run some 20 meters from the gym, but the suspects followed him up to the entrance of a nearby government office and finished him off.

City police chief Khasmir Disomangcop said they are not discounting the possibility of revenge on the part of the Jaculinas, since their close relatives were killed in a shootout last May 11, 2012 during a Bikini Open contest in the barangay.

Rio and Richard Jaculina were wounded in the 2012 incident, while Deguma was tagged as one of the suspects in the shootout.

Jaro police said that Deguma was included in the list of suspected drug pushers in the barangay and was even linked to several robbery cases in the district.

A sachet of suspected shabu and an improvised tooter were recovered from Degoma’s pants pocket.

Meanwhile, Rodney’s house was sprayed with bullets on Tuesday midnight.

The house was found out to be abandoned.
