Pampanga labor landscape cited

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- With the massive development experienced by Pampanga today, its employment landscape has been cited and is now tagged as one of the country’s major industrial and commercial hubs.

This was gleaned from the report released by JobStreet.com which revealed that about 10,000 various job opportunities from all industries are now available in Pampanga’s labor market, making it one of provinces that has the most diverse and dynamic labor landscape.

Based on the report, Pampanga is considered a prime location for business process outsourcing (BPO) companies with Metro Clark consistently being named as one of the world’s top outsourcing destinations.

With this, the BPO and call center sectors are reported to have the most number of job openings among all the industries available in Pampanga with its wide variety of market specialization ranging from Information Technology (IT)-software, IT networking, accounting and human resource.

The BPO and call center industry is also considered the main employer for fresh graduates where two thirds or about 67 percent of the entry jobs available in the market come from it.

With the rise of the factories and industrial establishments around Pampanga, its manufacturing sector has also become a major employment provider, followed by accounting which is said to be essential in every field of work, the report read.

Retail, building and construction, banking, food and beverage, wholesale trading, transportation and logistics and real estate jobs are also on the rise along with the call to develop the province into a metropolis, it added.

“Pampanga is leading Central Luzon in its boom, with the continuous development of the province’s urban centers namely Angeles, Metro Clark and the City of San Fernando and any development is always accompanied by employment which is reflected on the province’s labor market,” said JobStreet.com Philippine Country Manager Philip Gioca.

And with Pampanga consistently experiencing growth in various sectors, its dynamic employment landscape is also reflected in the salary scenario the employees here are experiencing, added Gioca. “It is no wonder why demand for Kapampangan labor continuously increased, bringing with it the competitiveness of salaries across all positions levels.”

As new businesses are being established, salaries offered are also on the rise to entice fresh graduates and other jobseekers to remain in Pampanga instead of relocating to Metro Manila. This is evident on the average salaries of employees which are actually higher than the national average, he said.

“Known all over the country as its culinary capital, the dynamism of Pampanga’s labor market shows that it is ready to break free from its reputation of being a place that offers only good food,” Gioca stressed.
